Autism and Microbes

Over the weekend I happened upon a really interesting documentary about the possible link between autism and the microbes in your digestive tract. They raise some very interesting questions and posibilities. Take a look: http://www.cbc.ca/natureofthings/episode/autism-enigma.html

I feel really bad for eneyone that has autism. This video has changed my thinking of autism. It would suck to be living in a fake world not understanding or able comprehend anything that is going on, and if they were able to your brain doesn't have the knowledge to talk properly. Its being in your own world and you can't do anything about it because you don't know what's going on around you.

    1. Hi Jacob. I also feel bad, but it is also good to know that research is occurring and hopefully in a few years we will be able to understand it better. The connection between bacteria in your intestines and autism is a very new discovery and it is exiting to know that these new connections are being found.

It is also important to know that Autism is a spectrum disorder so people can have it a little bit or a lot. Some people with Autism are very functional and do know what is going on around them, but they might have a harder time understanding social cues or making sense of what other people might be thinking or doing. I know some people with autism and you probably wouldn't know it when first meeting them.
